Question: Which part of the bitcointalk announcement/thread made you decide to join here?
Answer (@JimBean): Honestly, i like looking for the next big tech in crypto. What caught my eye after to thread was the logo, its professional, then looked into the project a bit and liked the overall go as a 2nd coming of bitcoin. Then i saw on Github that regular updates are pushed.. and yup!
Arthur: Thanks! Useful to hear these perspectives.
Patchcoin is going to be a long-term bet/hedge on Bitcoin’s decline.
While we’ve had this idea for several years, we chose to build it now because we see Bitcoin’s tipping point approaching. We are at or near the point of maximum hype - government “strategic reserves”, risky leveraged products, and increasing mining centralization. I would be surprised to see BTC ever reach $200k.
BanBitcoin.org shows just how old and inefficient Bitcoin’s technology is. Patchcoin is a perfect Bitcoin replacement and that’s our message.
Arthur: I see Bitcoin’s problems getting worse in 2028 with the next halving. Each halving increases mining centralization. Bitcoin’s security against a 51% attack will continue to worsen as a result.
I think our goal with Patchcoin over the next three years will be to build a trusted history. We can do that by adding more public nodes, achieving an even wider coin distribution through exchange trading, and by proving reliability/security.
When Bitcoin starts to fail, we should be seen as a trusted replacement.
